This hat is a variation of the basic beanie. After three inches of ribbing one begins four traveling stitches that spiral around and up the hat, ending at the top. It is one step beyond beginner knitting.

The Not So Ordinary Beanie features ribbing, traveling stitches, standard decreases and a cinched closure at the top.

Pattern is written for double point needles with instructions for adapting to magic loop in parenthesis.

This hat is especially dramatic when knit in a hand dyed yarn, photo shows Nadezhda’s Crayon Box, superwash worsted in Coral Reef.
