Notes
When choosing your size remember that you want at least a little negative ease for mitts!
I recommend casting on using the Backwards Loop method, because it is so easy to pick up the stitches for the first picot and it’s such a flexible edge.
It may be useful to refer to the photo tutorial at the end of the pattern to see just what stitches to pick up; the purl round is in the pattern to be a guide.
When working picots in the round I find it helpful to pick up stitches incrementally, picking up more stitches before the needle is empty. This makes the pick ups easier, as well as the knitting.
For the final picots at the knuckles and thumb, I have recommended Kitchener Stitch to bind off. Because Kitchener will also act as the final round, you do 1 round less after the turning (yo, k2tog) round. If you decide to bind off in another style, you may want to do an equal number of knit rounds before and after the turning round, so that the picot works out correctly.
