Nottingham Apple Lace Luncheon Set Filet Crochet by Olive F. Ashcroft

Nottingham Apple Lace Luncheon Set Filet Crochet

This pattern is available from claudiabotterweg.com for $2.99.

Designed by Olive Ashcroft in 1930, this novel design is an excellent imitation of the Nottingham lace, a favorite of days gone by, the background resembling the crackle-stitch in Battenberg-work, and affording a very pleasing change from the usual filet crochet spaces, while no more difficult to do. Pattern includes instructions for tablecloth and matching napkin corners with edging, and a matching insertion.

The insertion may be used for curtains, scarf ends, or as liked.

This is not your usual scanned vintage crochet pattern. To make this pattern great for today’s crocheter I wrote complete instructions, expanded the written instructions so you won’t need to skip around, and made an easy to follow chart. I also changed the written instructions to use modern US crochet terms.

The only stitches you need to know to complete this lace are: chain stitch, single crochet, double crochet, treble crochet, and slip stitch.
