Number 10
I am so excited to be introducing NUMBER 10!
In honor of my 10th anniversary, I offer a 10-color celebration of color! The idea for NUMBER 10 began with Hypothesis Yarns Wes Anderson Collection -- 10 colors inspired by the Wes Anderson movies! I loved the colors and the idea of designing a 10-color shawl. I ordered up 2 sets of mini-skeins and played with them until this idea emerged. I am sure that I was inspired by years of looking at the great modern artists such as Sonia Delaunay, Hilma af Klint, Wassily Kandinsky and Frank Stella, but really the idea just revealed itself as I worked with the yarn!
One of the things that I love about this shawl is that the color play seems to work with almost all color choices! You can see what I mean by looking at the amazing shawls knit by my fantastic test knitters. I am knitting a second one in Woolfolk TYDN which is luscious! This is a great opportunity to dig deep into your stash for 10 fingering weight yarns or to support your LYS of favorite independent hand-dyer. I will be sharing some ideas in the VERSACIKNITS knitters, where we will also kick-off a Knit-A-Long next week, and in the VERSACIKNITS IG account!
This is an easy-to-knit garter stitch shawl. It is very soothing to work and provides a little extra interest as you watch the color play emerge. It begins with a center tab and then is worked in a series of 2-color stripes. Each color is joined using intarsia, which is very easy to work since you are only working 2 skeins at a time. DO NOT BE INTIMIDATED; we will help you learn this new skill.
I really hope that you love this shawl as much as I do and that you will jump in and knit one for yourself or as a gift for someone who needs a little extra source of comfort at this stressful time! Please come join us for a KAL!
