Nurture socks
About
Available in 5 sizes, the Nurture socks are worked from the cuff down.
Starting by casting on for the cuff and working a twisted rib which is temporarily put to one side, the leg is then cast on separately, before joining together with the cuff. The broken rib stitch pattern is worked across the leg and down the front of the foot. The heel is worked using Shadow Wrap Short Rows, with the toes grafted together using Kitchener stitch.
Yarn
This pattern will play nicely with any fingering weight sock yarn in variegated, or speckled colourways. Tonals and solids will also work. The cuff is knit in a contrast colour; heels and toes are optional.
For the sample (green socks), a total of 53g was used to make a UK size 5, size 38, 7.5 US in the size Medium.
Main Colour: 40g
Contrast Colour: 13g (using 2g for cuff)
Materials
A spare needle in the same size to obtain gauge, or smaller is needed, along with 2 stitch markers
Experience
Skill Level: Easy/Advanced beginner
Previous experience of knitting socks from cuff to toe would be an advantage, but not absolutely essential.
