Nymphalidea for the Loom
Nymphalidea for the Loom is adapted from the needle knit pattern Nymphalidea by Melinda VerMeer with her permission.
Nymphalidea is inspired by the beauty and delicacy of a butterfly’s wing.
It was designed for use with long gradient self-striping yarns paired up with a contrasting solid or semi-solid, so each wedge becomes individual of those before and after and unique like the wings of a butterfly. Because this is cast on with few stitches and expands, it easily can be adapted to alternate weight yarns or be made smaller or larger to suit the individual knitter. The size of the shawl can be adjusted by making more or fewer repeats of the pattern sections.
This version was knit on the Kiss Small Gauge adjustable loom using the 29-peg end pair and the 31-peg ends for a total of 120 pegs. It could easily be made on any 3/8” gauge loom.
