O Christmas Tree Shawlette
Deck the halls with boughs of holly, and the Christmas trees too! This little shawlette is only 4 feet long and 18 inches at its center, deepest point, but its crescent shape makes it the perfect accessory to rest merrily on your shoulders this holiday season. It is comprised of 2 different kinds of lace. Worked from the bottom up, starting with Framed Christmas Tree Lace on the border, it then moves into the shawlette body and achieves its crescent shape by using short rows. A Russian Christmas Tree Lace is featured in the body of the shawlette. I didn’t use beads to knit my shawlette, but the pattern does show where to place the beads at the top of each Christmas tree in the border and in the body if you would like to add beads to yours. This is a lightweight shawlette that is sort of a hybrid between a small shawlette and a scarf. It is very wearable and quick to knit up. I knit it using Madelinetosh’s Tosh Merino Light in fingering weight in the shade of Mineral. The skein had 420 yards on it, and I was left with about 20 yards when I was finished. Full written instructions, row counts, video help links and charts are included in the pattern.
