O-Fish-Ally Fun
Magnetic fishing games have been around for decades - but as a child of the 90’s, I remem-ber afternoons spent playing this game. As a kid, there was nothing quite like the race of gathering more fish than your friends or siblings.
With a bit of yarn and a dash of inspiration on my side, I decided to recreate the classic fish-ing game with these fun, crocheted fish. You can crochet up as many fish as you want and make as many poles as you need for endless fun for kids of all ages!
Lure your kids in with this great project for birthday parties, summer get togethers, or sleepovers. All you need is some yarn, a wooden dowel or two, and a handful of magnets!
Finished Measurements: 4.5” length x 3.5” width (8” circumference)
Yarn: 60-80 yards of Red Heart Super Saver Stripes in the Favorite Stripe colorway OR any other worsted weight yarn (I Love This Yarn, Caron Simply Soft, Red Heart Solids etc.)
I don’t recommend using any weight of yarn bigger than worsted/light aran as the fish will become too heavy to magnetize
Hook: US size F / 3.75 mm hook
Gauge: 5 sts x 6 rows = 1” in single crochet
Additional Supplies: Stitch marker, tapestry needle, 9 mm safety eyes, polyfil stuffing, 1/4th” diameter x 8-10” length wooden dowel, small magnets
Pattern is very beginner friendly - nothing about these little fish are intricate or detailed. Photo tutorials are included for some of the trickier steps!
