Larger squares seem to get more attention these days, but small squares can still play a big role in making afghans or clothing items. Small squares work up quickly and take very little yarn. Make a four-patch of a 4″ square and it’s equivalent to an 8″ block; a nine-patch can hold its own against a 12″. A 4″ square can also be used (in multiples) for a pleasant border around almost any ‘ghan, or bring a couple hundred together by themselves for a most interesting blanket with lots of colorplay options.
This pattern is written in US terms.
Skill level for this square is EASY.
