This asymmetrical triangular shawl is knit from bottom border up to the top edge. The border is cast on and knit back and forth. Once the border is completed, stitches for the body of the shawl are picked up along the top edge. The body of the shawl is worked in a textured and lace pattern. The shawl is shaped with decreases along one edge of the triangle and is meant to be worn on the bias.

You will need approximately 800 yards of a fingering-weight yarn to knit this pattern as written. If choosing to substitute yarns, pick one without much halo, that has a nice drape and will block well to show the lace patterning to it’s best advantage. Kits for this shawl can be ordered from Wall Of Yarn.

The oak is a tree of strength and honor in the Ogham alphabet. It was one of the most sacred trees to the Celtic druids, and is a tree representing many gods and goddesses throughout history. The wood contains powers of protection, health, inner strength, and healing.
