A whimsical beret style hat fashioned from clever crochet crocodile stitches, the Oak Sprite Hat is a must-have woodland accessory! This full-length crochet pattern is sure to spark the imagination -worked from center to brim using a special textural crochet technique, it’s topped with a quick and easy crocheted stem. Evoking the life of the forest, in brown it’s a beautiful acorn cap, in greens it reminds me of a thistle blossom - I’ve even heard hedgehog!
Written pattern, special stitch instructions, and tutorial photos are all included to make this adorable acorn hat, one adult size following the written instructions but notes are included for how to modify for baby/toddler. Materials
5.00 mm hook – or size needed to obtain gauge
#4 weight yarn – listed below are the specific yarns used to make each hat. Recommended yarn is Caron Simply Soft.
Thistle (green): LB Ferris Wheel (#4, 270 yd / 85 g, 100% Acrylic) – 1 Skein, Caron Simply Soft (#4) ~ 50 yards
Hedgehog (brown/gray): LB Amazing (discontinued) – 1 skein, LB Ferris Wheel ~ 100 yards
Acorn (brown): Caron Simply Soft Chocolate – 1 skein, I Love This Yarn - ~ 50 yds
Finished Measurements:
23” circumference for brim
33” circumference for widest part of crown
7-8” tall from tip to brim (not including stem)
Pattern written in US terminology, Language is English
