Oakland Avenue Shawl
I take the bus to get around my home city of Milwaukee, and Oakland Avenue is one of the streets I find myself on the most. It’s everything you could want in a city street - beautiful houses, small boutiques, restaurants as far as the eye can see, running through a prime part of the city just a few blocks from gorgeous Lake Michigan. I can’t help but be inspired by it.
Techniques: Magic Circle, sc, dc, front and back post stitches, bead stitch. Stitch explanations and links to tutorials provided.
Yarn: You will need approximately 1120 yards of DK weight yarn without the fringe, or approximately 1314 yards with fringe. The sample uses 9 balls of Lion Brand LB Collection Baby Alpaca in the color Natural.
Hook: Size K/6.5mm or whatever size gives you a beautiful drape to the fabric
Notions: Tapestry needle, scissors, stitch marker
Final Measurements: 82in (208cm) wingspan by 42in (107cm) deep after blocking. The gauge listed is after blocking.
As always, feel free to contact me with any questions. Enjoy!
