Oakley the Owl
Please meet Oakley the Owl. Oakley stands at 11 inches/28cms, he’s a tubby little owl, and his tummy measures 16 inches/40 cms! He can be knitted with any worsted weight/Aran yarns. I have tried eyelash, fleecy yarns such as Snowflake and Pipsqueak, or soft chenille.
This pattern includes a detailed step-by-step guide; full of photos and tips to help you assemble your owl. Print warning: It may be best to print just the knitting directions and save the step-by-step guide to refer to as and when necessary or it will drink your printer ink and eat your paper!!
He is actually based on a favourite owl that belonged to my nephew, Stevie. He used to take that owl everywhere. Once he lost him in a restaurant and my poor brother had to retrace the 70 or so miles back up the motorway to find him. Luckily they did find him. Often wonder what happened to Stevie’s Oakley.
This Oakley can be knitted using any worsted weight yarn. I used a very soft eyelash for the main part and for the tum and eyes I used Bernat Pipsqueak and also Sirdar Snowflake Chunky.
As I was researching owls I came to realise that there are many different shapes and sizes, use your imagination and create your favourite owl. I have included directions for optional ears as some owls seems to have ears!!
