Design introduction
OAKWOOD RAGLAN is a bottom-up raglan sweater with a classic silhouette and a beautiful all-over texture, featuring an openwork cable pattern alternating with ribbing, which gives the sweater ample stretch. For this reason, the sweater can be worn with the recommended ease or minimal ease, depending on the desired fit. The unique cable pattern is fun to knit, easy to learn, and requires no cable needle.
The name OAKWOOD was inspired by the textured pattern, which is reminiscent of the bark or twisted branches of an old oak tree.
Sizing
This pattern is designed for 6-16 cm/ 2.25-6.25 in of positive ease. With greater discrepancies in upper chest and full chest measurements, I recommend going with the upper chest measurement. The sample in the photos in size 2 with 14 cm/ 5.5 in ease.

Recommended yarn (Aran/Worsted
Höner och Eir - Nutiden (unspun yarn, comes in plates of ~100 g ~ 530 m/ approx. 580 yds) - held double:
- Meters: 1790, 2030, 2255 (2590, 2920, 3155) {3715, 3870, 3920}
- Yards: 1960, 2220, 2465 (2830, 3195, 3450) {4065, 4230, 4285}
- Grams: 340, 385, 425 (490, 550, 595) {700, 730, 740}
- Plates: 4, 4, 5 (5, 6, 6) {7, 8, 8}
The provided meterages/ yardages (yds approx. due to rounding) already include a safety margin. However, please note that your individual yarn consumption may vary based on your yarn, gauge, size, and the desired width/height. It is advisable to get a little more than you think you’ll need.)
Yarn substitutes
Any unspun yarn held double, or any aran to worsted weight yarn that meets the gauge.
Gauge
The gauge in the stitch pattern is 16 sts and 22 rnds/rows per 10 cm/ 4 in with a 4.5 mm (US 7) needle, after blocking.
Needles
3.5 mm (US 4), 4.0 mm (US 6) and 4.5 mm (US 7) 60-120 cm/ 24-47 in circular needles and/or DPNs.
Notions
Stitch markers, stitch holders, a tapestry needle, measuring tape, and scissors.
Pattern Difficulty: Intermediate
(Requires cable knitting, working from a chart as well as following written instructions for the stitch pattern, maintaining the stitch pattern during increases and decreases, and shaping while working flat.)
