Obsession Hat is knit in the round from the bottom up in an easy to memorize basketweave stitch pattern which creates a beautiful textured fabric. Worked with a bulky yarn this hat is a very quick project. The crown shaping is integrated into the stitch pattern.


Gauge
20 sts and 17 rounds = 10x10 cm/4”x4” in Basketweave Stitch Pattern knit in the round with needle A after blocking
(Base gauge: 12 sts and 19 rounds = 10x10 cm/4”x4” in Stockinette Stitch knit in the round with needle A after blocking)
Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Finished Measurements
56 cm / 22” circumference at widest point, 24.5 cm / 9½” height. Comfortably fit average adult head sizes (20-24”)

Needles
· needle A: 80 cm/32” circular needle or 40 cm/16” circular needle and double pointed needles (dpns) in size 8.0 mm/ US 11 (or size to obtain gauge)
· needle B: 80 cm/32” circular needle or 40 cm/16” circular needle and double pointed needles (dpns) in size 7 mm (or you can use a 6.5 mm / US 10½) or two sizes smaller than needle A for the Ribbing
· needle C: 80 cm/32” circular needle or 40 cm/16” circular needle and double pointed needles (dpns) in size 6.0 mm/ US 10 or two sizes smaller than needle B for the Tubular Cast On (optional)

40 cm/16” circular needles and dpns are optional if you prefer the Magic Loop Method for working small circumferences in the round.
