Ocean Breeze Cardigan

What’s one garment in your closet that you consider a summer essential? For me, it’s this boxy & oversized cardigan I can throw on before I head to the beach. The early morning (and later evening) breeze from the ocean is refreshing but can also be a bit chilly. I wanted to design a piece that is no fuss, easy to knit and casual in style. This oversized cardigan easily layers over a tank top for that light layer of coziness when needed. Knit in Lion Brand Mandala Bonus Bundle, there’s no need to weave in additional ends — the colors change seamlessly!

Knitting Needles
Size 6 (4 mm) 16” & 24 - 40” circular knitting needles
Size 6 (4 mm) straight knitting needles (optional but recommended)

Stitch marker, stitch holders (or scrap yarn), darning needle, scissors

1(2,2,2,2)(2,2,3,3) balls
Color used in sample: Meowth 125-249E

GAUGE

4 in x 4 in / 10 cm x 10 cm; 20 sts x 26 rows in stockinette stitch after wet blocking

Schematic in photos are finished measurements. Choose your size based on your actual chest/bust measurement + your desired ease. Cardigan is designed with 13 - 17” of positive ease for an oversized, boxy look. If you do not wish to knit such an oversized piece, choose a smaller size. *For reference, sample shown in size XS on a model with a 33” bust (14” positive ease).
