Sitting by the harbour watching the waves gently rolling in, the lapping sounds as they reach the dock, the moving patterns of light and shade, and the ever-changing colours in the water… summer is made from memories such as these.

The design for this rug attempts to capture those moments by working with two strands of yarn held together in ever-changing combinations. The patterning has symmetry without predictability, giving the design an almost three-dimensional quality.

The pattern includes instructions for three different sizes to make a medium or large bedside rug for a beach-themed cottage or a slim runner which would be perfect for a smaller bedroom or hallway.

Pattern Note: A pattern for a co-ordinating blanket, the Ocean Currents Blanket, is available separately.
