I love doing things that are creative and just a little bit different, and I think this hat hits both of those marks. I decided early on that I wanted to try to capture the glorious artistry of ocean waves in a baby hat, and I think I’ve done a pretty good job!

BUT, funny story: this was not my first attempt at making this hat, and this hat actually inspired a different hat that I had never even thought to make. Check out our Deck the Halls baby hat in our At the North Pole Collection. That hat features the first waves pattern that I demoed when I began designing this hat, but it just didn’t look like ocean waves. It DID however look like Christmas garland, so that pattern was born out of a happy accident and ultimately became what I fondly call our “deck the halls” hat. Later on, I found this lace pattern late which made much better ocean waves.

Stay tuned for an ocean waves BRIM baby hat!
