Autumn is my favorite season. I love seeing the changing leaves, pumpkins everywhere, feeling the crisp bite in the evening air that reminds me to get out my woolens. The October Cowl embodies the best parts of autumn, with its thicker wool and cushy cables that sit snuggly around the neck without being too warm.

This cowl is worked in the round, and uses a tubular cast on and bind off to create a perfectly symmetrical piece. As you bind off, be sure to check your work carefully every few stitches to keep the edge at an even tension with the rest of the cowl. The cable pattern is both charted and written out, but is easy to memorize once the pattern is established.
