Materials

  • US Size 0 (2mm) set of dpns or circular needles (for Magic Loop method)

  • Light fingering weight yarn 231y/50 g (211m/50g). You will need about 296y/64g total: Background color – 120y/26g, Contrast color 1 – 139y/30g, Contrast Color 2 – 37y/8g. Plus small amounts of red, yellow, blue, green, gray, orange or other colors of choice optional for embroidery.

  • Tapestry needle (for duplicate stitch and/or embroidery)

Notes
1. Sizes : the size of the mittens can be adjusted with yarn and needles.
My recommendation would be: for S/M light fingering + 2mm
needles, for M use fingering + 2.25/2.5 mm needles, for large use sport weight and 2.5/3 mm needles.
2. Options: There are 2 sets of charts for 2 slightly different versions.
Each version also comes with a 64 and a 60-stitch cuff option. Choose the one you prefer.
3. Stranded colorwork: Follow the charts from right to left. Catch longer floats using preferred method.
4. Duplicate stitch and/or embroidery: The mittens are knit with only 2 colors in a row. If desired, extra details, e.g. window panes, curtains, lights, highlights on trees, etc., can be added after the knitting is completed with duplicate stitch or embroidery.
5. Construction: the mitten are knit in the round. The front of the mitten has more stitches than the palm side of the mitten (more notes on that in the instructions). You will notice that the beginning of the round is on the side with the thumb. The mittens have a sore thumb construction with the thumb gusset growing from the side of the mitten. Once the thumb gusset is finished, the thumb stitches are placed on a stitch holder or scrap yarn, and you finish the body of the mitten first. Lastly, the thumb stitches are placed back on needles and the thumb is completed.

KnittinTheBlues thank you so much for the gorgeous sample pair and testing the pattern for me! ♥♥♥
