Octopus Hot Water Bottle Cover Animal
Release the kraken ! But surely not this one; you wouldn’t want to let this octopus go. Hold it in your arms and it will keep your tummy warm !
This PDF crochet pattern will guide you to crochet an octopus hot water bottle cover as shown in pictures, made using soft acrylic DK / 8 ply yarn and crochet hook G (4 mm).
The cover can also be made using wool or cotton yarn, as long as you can meet gauge for this pattern. The octopus in pictures is made using Stylecraft Special DK (similar to SMC Bravo). For US crocheters sport weight yarn will give the best result.
Cover will fit any standard 2 Liter rubber hot water bottle, size 7,87” x 10.63” (20 x 27 cm) measured excluding spout.
There will be an opening at the backside to insert your hot water bottle easily, with a button closure. Finished size will be approx. 25.5” x 8.5” (65 cm x 21.50 cm).
Stitches used: chain, slip stitch, single crochet, bobble stitch - bead stitch (instructions for both in pattern), increasing and decreasing.
Materials used:
- Crochet hook size G (4 mm)
- Yarn in lilac (approx. 95 grams, 305 yards - 280 meter), purple (approx. 75 grams, 242 yards - 220 meters), small amounts of orange, white and black.
- Stitch marker, tapestry needle, pins, fiberfill stuffing, white sewing thread
- Rubber hot water bottle, 2 Liter, size 7.87” x 10.63” (20 x 27 cm) measured excl. spout
- 2 Transparent buttons, diameter approx. 0.8” (2 cm), 1 pair of 12 mm safety eyes
