Bruges Lace gets its name from a bobbin lace that was made in Bruges in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Characteristically it has scrolling curves separated by a mesh texture. This mitt pattern is an adaptation of much crochet Bruges lace seen in the pattern world, but with a twist. In most crochet Bruges lace patterns, double crochet rows end with chain spaces that attach to the previous rows’c chain spaces. In this version, subtle shaping in the double crochet rows makes for a narrow wrist and slightly flared cuff, allowing this project to “fit like a glove,”
