We don’t need to challenge our self all the time. Life is complicated enough!
Some time it is good to just stop, take a breath, and treat our self with something relaxing, simple, and beautiful in its simplicity. Beauty is not complicated, most of the time.
This design was born in between two quite challenging projects, and it reminded me that there is no need to push myself to do more, to do better, to do more original. I want to do things that I love, in the way I love. And I love simple things!
And especially when I have a beautiful yarn in my hands, like the soft and squishy Gregoria Fibers Single Fingering, I enjoy to just cast on and let the needles drive me wherever they want!
This is how I designed Ode To Simplicity.

It is a crescent shaped shawl worked from top down, mostly in garter, interspersed by two stripes of a simple textured stitch pattern. Color transitions gradually from a shade to another to give a “fade” effect. It can be knitted in no-time with no effort and great satisfaction!
Prepare your cup of tea, put on your favorite music, take a comfortable seat and cast on!

GAUGE after blocking: 24 sts x 46 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm / 4” x 4” in garter stitch.
Gauge is not critical; different gauge will only affect finished size and yardage.

FINISHED SIZE after gentle blocking: width 180 cm / 70.75”; depth at the deepest point 38 cm / 15”.

MATERIALS
2 skeins of Fingering weight yarn, approx in the following quantity: 400 m/ 437 yds for each color (one skein each color).
Yarn used for the sample:
-Gregoria Fibers Single fingering (100% superwash merino; 100 gr/ 400 m), 1 skein Bergamot (Color1) and 1 skein Burnished Rose (Color2).

(Yarn quantity used in tests varied; make sure you have a little exceeding quantity of yarn in case of need)
3.25 mm / US 3 circular needle 80 cm/ 32” long or longer, or size to obtain gauge

Non c’è bisogno di mettersi alla prova sempre. La vita è sufficientemente complicata! Talvolta fa bene fermarsi, respirare, e coccolarsi con qualcosa di rilassante, semplice, e bello nella sua semplicità. La bellezza, il più delle volte, è semplicità. Questo modello è nato in mezzo a due progetti piuttosto impegnativi, e mi è servito a ricordare che non devo costringermi tutto il tempo a fare di più, a fare meglio, ad essere più originale. Voglio fare quello che amo, e nel modo che amo. E amo le cose semplici!
E soprattutto quando ho tra le mani filati bellissimi, come il morbido e soffice filato Single fingering di Gregoria Fibers, mi piace avviare il lavoro e lasciare che I ferri mi conducano dove vogliono!
Così è nato Ode To Simplicity.
E’ uno scialle a semiluna, lavorato top down, principalmente a punto legaccio con due fasce in un semplice punto traforato. Il colore passa gradualmente da una sfumatura all’altra creando un effetto “fade”. Può essere lavorato in poco tempo con poco sforzo e grande soddisfazione!
Preparatevi una tazza di thé, accendete la vostra musica preferita, sedetevi comode ed avviate il lavoro!

CAMPIONE dopo il bloccaggio: 24 m x 26 ferri = 10 cm x 10 cm a punto legaccio.
La tensione corretta non è indispensabile; una tensione diversa avrà effetto solo sulla misura finale e sulla quantità di filato utilizzato.

MISURE DEL CAPO FINITO dopo un leggero bloccaggio: larghezza: 180 cm;
altezza nel punto maggiore 38 cm.

MATERIALE
2 matasse di filato Fingering , approssimativamente nelle quantità seguenti:
400 m/ 437 yds per ciascun colore (una matassa per ogni colore)
(La quantità di filato usata nei tests è stata molto variabile; accertati di avere filato in eccesso in caso di bisogno!)
Filato utilizzato per il modello:

Ferri circolari da 80 cm/32” (o più lunghi) n. 3.25 mm / US 3 o della misura adatta per ottenere il campione dato.
