Ode to Summer is a very stretchy hat that features a textured lace stitch as well as a lace flower panel that covers 25% of the hat. This hat will fit snuggly on the head of the wearer, and is fantastic for children as it stretches with growth!

Suggestions are included to create a slouchy hat as well.

Skill Level: Adventurous beginner / Intermediate

Changes in size are achieved by changing needle size and yarn weight used as follows:

• Newborn-6 Months: Sport weight yarn, US 4 & 6 (3.5mm & 4.0mm) needles.
• Child S/M: dk/light worsted yarn, US 4 & 6 (3.5mm & 4.0mm) needles.
• Child L-Adult S/M: dk/light worsted weight, US 6 & 8 (4.0mm & 5.0mm) needles.
• Adult M/L: Aran weight yarn, US 6 & 8 (4.0mm & 5.0mm) needles.

This pattern has been tested for accuracy and clarity.

Yarns used in testing include:

• Lion Brand wool ease - recommended by tester
• Vanna’s Choice - recommended by tester
• Caron Simply Soft - recommended by tester
• Caron Vintage Dazzleaire - recommended by tester
• Knitpicks special reserve Highland wool - recommended by tester
• Red Heart Super Saver - this yarn is not recommended, as it produces too large a hat
