Odensjön Socks
Designed for Tour-de-Sock 2018 competition, Stage 2. Tour de Sock benefits Doctors without Borders.
Named for a lake in Söderåsens National Park in southern Sweden. This perfectly round lake was the inspiration for these socks. There are many sagas about this lake from it being named for the eye of Oden the sagas also says that this lake is unfathomably deep or that it was created when a giant, who was angry at church bells, was struck down and an angel’s tear created the lake.
Odensjön Socks are knit top down with a twisted rib cuff, traditional slip stitch heel flap and gusset or optional riverbed gusset. The design features a central round cable with mini cables on either side, surrounded with slip stitch columns and knit/purl block sides.
Materials : CoopKnits Sock Yeah! 75% fine superwash merino, 25% nylon 231 yards (212 meters), 50 grams (example in Beryl), 2 skein.
Bugbear Woolens Gemstone Sock Yarn 75% superwash merino, 25% nylon, 463 yards (401 meters) / 100 grams.
Needles: US 1/ 2.25 mm, your choice of dpns, two circulars, or one long circular to work in the rnd.
Notions: Tapestry needle, Cable Needle, Stitch markers (optional).
Gauge: 32 sts, 44 rnds = 4 inches (10 cm) over stockinette stitch in the rnd.
Size: Women’s small (medium, large), to fit 7 (8, 9) inches/18 (20, 23) cm foot circumference; foot length is adjustable. Socks shown measure 9”.
