Odilia’s Autumn Mittens are perfect for the days before (and after) true winter, when the chill is in the air and you need some wooly warmth. The fingerless mittens give that warmth, but for the slightly colder days there is also the full mittens, to make sure the tips of your fingers are also snuggled in. The pattern consists of pretty easy cables and purled stitches to give it a smooth finish, the moss stitch on the back of the hand gives it a pretty and interesting texture.

Yarn
I have choosen to knit this pattern with a woolly yarn, as the yarn would blook after washing, making your mittens extra warm.
The Rauma Finull Pt2 yarn is a perfect fit. Not too expensive. and except for the L sized full mitten you can knit a pair with only 1 ball!
(1 ball is 50 grams/191 yards (175 meters)

Ofcourse you can choose a different type of yarn, just make sure you do not choose something that maintains a bit of stitch definition.
A good 80/20 sock yarn (i.e. 80% merino and 20% nylon) will work very well too! You might even want to add some sparkle!

Suggestions for yarn budget friendly:

  • Rauma Finullpt2
  • Navia Duo,
  • Drops in any fingering weight

Yarn in a slightly higher price range (but bear in mind the yardage on these mean you could knit 2 pair! (or something else))

  • Handprint by Céline sockyarn
  • Bicycle West Wool

These are only suggestions and not at all the only options you have!

I would love to see your mittens so please share your progress on Instagram if you can.
