Of Course You've Got A Therapist
What’s more useless, cold hands without mitts, or a detective without his blogger? Well, only one of those can be tested empirically.
These mitts are worked up in a heavy fingering or a light DK, providing a warmth and sturdiness akin to the Aran sweaters that they were inspired by. They are cabled on the back of the hand, for warmth, but plain stockinette on the palms enables them to be used while typing, taking pictures, or solving crimes.
Gauge: 7 st and 10 rows to 1 sq in. Yardage: 150-170 yards. Yarn: heavy fingering or DK. Needles, size 2, or depending on size needed for gauge, as different knitters produce different gauges.
Now, the chart was carefully designed to be easy to memorize and can be used to measure your progress. It takes five rows to make one V in the center, and then the cables are twisted on a “resting” row in between each V. There are four cable repeats in the chart, and the chart is going to be repeated three times. The chart is worked once in the round, once flat when divided for the thumb, and once more in the round for the wrists.
Clarification of directions
For some reason, the cable chart ended up being numbered backwards. When knitting the chart, start at the row labelled 20 and continue down to the bottom. Thank you. :)
