Off for a walk with Charlotte
A shawl made in the style of the shawl worn by Kate the Duchess of Cambridge on her shopping trip soon after her wedding.
Step out confidently in this cosy, comfortable oh-so-stylish shawl! Knit from the centre top down to the wide bottom, the increases form a triangle that’s wider than usual giving long points that drape well down over the shoulders and arms. The gentle all-round ruffle complements the subtle texture of the body of the shawl. The stitch patterns are not difficult although the ruffle can seem daunting until suddenly it’s finished:)
While I was designing a shawl it happened that the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton was photographed wearing a shawl while on a shopping trip soon after her wedding. I used the texture I was working on and shaped my shawl after the style of the now trendy shawl:)
Although it’s worked from the top down the spine is almost disguised within the pattern.
The ruffle is worked in rounds.
Measures 21 1/2” down the back, 59” across the top, PLUS the 2” ruffle.
The size can be adjusted easily by changing the number of repeats of the pattern, the weight of the yarn and using the information given to adjust the ruffle.
There are written instructions and charts. The charts are very simple…not intimidating:)
The pattern was tested by 5 knitters using different yarns and sizes. Information and photos about the different sizes are in the pattern.
