Off the Beaten Path Socks
Thank you so much for everyone’s support of the PRIDE Socks ebook during June 2020, we were able to donate $300 to The Trevor Project!!
This pattern is available for purchase in the PRIDE Sock ebook with all 8 other patterns of the collection!
In the original Rainbow Pride Flag created in 1978, there were 8 stripes that each had a specific meaning, the orange stripe represents healing. I thought that a raised cable on a sea of reverse stockinette was a beautiful representation fo how the path to healing is long and not a simple straight path. The journey begins in the ribbing and makes its way done the leg and the foot ending at the toe. This sock is designed to be worn on the reverse stockinette side but is knit on the stockinette side. Charted and written instructions are included in the pattern.
Sizing
Choose the size that gives you 1-2” of negative ease.
Sizing is based on the circumference of the foot, not the length. To figure out the length of foot you need to knit, use the row gauge to calculate the number of rounds you will need to knit for your foot size subtracting 1.25”(1.25”,1.5”) for the toe, or try your sock on as you go!
S(M,L) – Circumference 8-9”(9-10”, 10-11”)
Yarn
100 g of fingering weight yarn.
Suggested Yarn
Midway, Point Prim Sock 80% Canadian Wool/ 2% Canadian Mohair. 380 yards, 114 g by Fleece and Harmony.
Suggested Needle

I am a tight knitter and I’ve found that most knitters match my gauge by sizing down one needle size from my recommendation.

Construction Notes
- The pattern is written for magic loop where stitches are split evenly between two needles.
- Top-down construction.
- Slip stitch heel flap and gusset.
- Basic rounded toe that uses Kitchener stitch to graft live stitches.
- Socks are mostly worked inside out, meaning they are worked on the stockinette side, but worn with the reverse stockinette side facing out.
