…off the Florida Keys, where the water is an unearthly vivid shade of turquoise blue, and when you go snorkeling you see an abundance of sea life, including billowy sea plumes! It could happen on a dream vacation this summer, and it is already there on this crescent shaped shawlette. The design is solid knitted lace in a deep crescent shape. Worked from the bottom up, starting with a Japanese Alternating Plume Lace Border, and moving upwards into an all-over lace body. Knit using short rows to form the crescent shape, this lightweight shawlette is sort of a hybrid between a small shawlette and a scarf. It is very wearable and quick to knit up. I knit it using Madelinetosh’s Tosh Merino Light in fingering weight in the shade of Nassau Blue. The skein had 420 yards on it, and I used about 300 yards of this skein. After blocking, it measures 9 inches at the center, deepest point, and is 5 ½ feet end to end. Full written instructions, row counts, and charts are included in the pattern.
