This pattern is worked flat entirely in garter stitch. The scarf is made up of one block knit in the log cabin style composed of seven sections. Eight of these blocks sewn together make the scarf. The central section is knit in a bright color and is surrounded by sections of skinny stripes and wide stripes knit in bold black and cream colors. Then two more sections are knit in light gray to bring the block to a finished 20.5 cm / 8” size square. After the blocks are completed, they are sewn together to create the length of the scarf. Finally, stitches are picked up along the long sides of the scarf for two rows of garter stitch. There is a schematic included of the log cabin block at the end of the pattern.
