Oh My Cod
Are you a codfish? Maybe not, but the fish tail-like lace running down the front of these socks might catch your fancy. They’re worked from cuff down, with columns of biased fabric to ensure a snug fit and counteract the stretchiness of the lace. Pair the pattern with a beautiful hand-painted yarn and your feet (or flippers) will look perfectly elegant. A heel flap and gusset and wide toe ensure a comfortable fit.
To knit this pattern you need to know how to:
- knit and purl,
- work in the round,
- work twisted stitches (k tbl),
- work basic decreases (k2tog, ssk, p2tog),
- work a lace pattern from a chart or written directions, and
- graft live stitches.
Most knitters will be able to get a pair of socks out of one 100 g skein of fingering weight sock yarn. If your feet are exceptionally long and/or wide, you may need more than one skein. Please be sure you have enough yarn to complete your project.
