OH! Plague Doctor!
Plague doctor-inspired crochet mask
Supplies:
Worsted weight (medium - 4) yarn in the colour of your choice … approximately 125 yards/130 meters (I used about 1/2 a skein of Craft Smart Value Yarn….which is basically the Canadian equivalent to RHSS)
Small (1/2”) button in coordinating colour
Crochet hook sizes: 4mm and 3mm (depending on gauge)
Scissors
Yarn needle
Stitch marker(s)
Poly-fil (if you choose to stuff the beak instead of starching)
Notes:
Pattern is written in US crochet terms.
The majority of the mask is worked in continuous rounds. I find that moving my stitch marker to the first stitch of each round helps me keep track of stitch count.
Once the beak is finished, the pattern changes to turning rows.
I crochet somewhat loosely, so I like to use the smaller hooks on worsted weight yarn for a project like this. If you crochet tightly, you will definitely want to go up at least one hook size to meet the gauge.
