When I was a kid going to summer camp, one of the activities we had was making the God’s Eye as part of our craft session. I always thought of the little Popsicle stick projects as having a greater significance. The Ojo de Dios or God’s eye is a ritual tool, magical object, and cultural symbol evoking the weaving motif and its spiritual associations for the Huichol and Tepehuan Indians of western Mexico. This sock is a tribute to the mystical Ojo de Dios.

This is a medium sock, 66 stitches, with a completely reversible pattern. Read full instructions before starting socks. The foot is knit in plain stocking stitch.

Stitches used: knit, purl, ssk, k2tog, traveling stitches (right & left 1/1 cables), NUPP, beading, ktbl x5, M1L, M1R

Beautiful motif that incorporates the NUPP (rhymes with “soup”) stitch or one can substitute beads. The pattern with travelling stitches can be found on the leg with a plain foot.

Yarn suggestions: solid, semi-solid, tonal. variegated, speckled, patterned, striped, short or long colour changes, mottled.
