This pattern is written to look like an old school brown leather football helmet. The optional ear circles sewn over the flaps mimic the bulging ear covers of the old helmet style. For an ear flap hat, just skip the ear circles. You can also make this in your favorite team colors, as long as the helmet is a solid color without a stripe down the middle.

Sizes:
Newborn: 5” height, 6.75” base
0-3 mos: 5.5” height, 7.5” base
3-6 mos: 6” height, 8” base
6-12 mos: 6.5” height, 8.5” base

Materials:
• about 1 ounce of soft worsted weight yarn in light brown (Red Heart soft yarn, toast) and a small amount of soft white (red heart super saver soft white).
• Size H/5mm crochet hook.
• Tapestry needle

• Slip Stitch

• Double Crochet two stitches together (Decrease)
• Working in Rounds
• Instructions given for Seamless Finish and doing a reverse slst to join rounds.
