Old Shale Lace Shawl
This reversible triangular garter stitch lace design was inspired by a small shawl from the 1950’s. Knit from the top down, it begins with garter stitch and ends with Old Shale lace, a traditional Shetland pattern, that is cast off with crocheted chains. An option also is included to knit the entire shawl in Old Shale.
The lace repeats over 36 rows, so both versions can be customized and look great in a variety of lace, fingering, and Shetland/sport/DK weight yarns.
This is a modified version of a design that originally appeared in the January/February 2005 issue of PieceWork Magazine published by Interweave Press.
Pattern includes both written instructions and charts.
