These yarn keepers (or, gift bags - or, with an added lining, an elegant evening bag) are especially handy for knitters who prefer to work while they walk. HInt - if you knit this with a kitchen cotton, it makes a very nice, small reusable produce bag - think Zero-Waste!

The ‘Old Shale’ pattern is an easy one - and, stretchy enough that one of those humongous commercial cakes will fit easily. Not to be confused with ‘Feather and Fan’ - Old Shale uses a longer stitch pattern with a curvier scallop, where Feather and Fan uses a pattern with fewer stitches and the decreases used are more drastic, resulting in an almost V-shape scallop.

There is no specific gauge required for this pattern. If a larger or smaller size is needed, suggest using either smaller or larger needles.

Knowledge of stitches required:

Cast-on, Knit, Purl, K2T (knit 2 together), YO (Yarn Over to increase), PM (Place Marker), 1x1 Rib (K1,P1)
