When I began designing this shawl, I was working with a simple concept. I wanted a beautiful asymmetrical shawl, with an easy decorative, picot stitch edging, and NO purling. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate purling, I just like avoiding it when I can. What came from this vision was something that surprised even myself, a beautiful, lacey, squishy and snuggly shawl.

This design will look gorgeous in almost any color you choose, and since it requires only one skein of each yarn for a 3-color version, you can use whatever fingering weight yarn you pull out of your stash, and I encourage you to mix textures, using single or plied yarns, or even handspun if you like!

There’s a two color version at the end of the pattern, which will need two skeins (or a larger 150g+ skein) of the second colorway, which is perfect for using those pairs of skeins in your stash that aren’t enough for a sweater but you’re not quite finding a 2-skein shawl you like! Just grab a contrasting colorway for it, and use that for the first colorway!

You’re Going to Need:

• US 6 (4.0mm) circular needles, I realize a lot of people prefer one or two sizes smaller for fingering weight shawls, and this may seem too big, but unless you have extremely loose tension usually, I find this size works perfectly with the squishy garter texture. At least 22” length, if you like more room for your stitches to spread, use a longer length cable.
• 19 stitch markers to fit your needles. These are optional, I didn’t use them, but it may make the first lace section easier to place markers between the repeats.
• Tapestry needle to weave in ends, there will be a good few ends unless you want to carry yarns for 12 rows (which shouldn’t be difficult or untidy, I just like to cut my yarn between colors.)
