OLIVA TOTE BAG

About the pattern: Oliva Tote Bag is worked in the round on either circular needle or double pointed needles with slip stitch technique. First the bottom is worked back and forth with pattern 1, then stitches are picked up all around the bottom. Then you work in the round with pattern 2.
At the top of the tote bag the work is divided into two parts, which is finished separately with pattern 1. It is finished with a stockinette stitch edge, which is folded over and sewn together at the end. This edge works as a casing for a fabric ribbon to pull the tote together. The lining with pockets is first sewn on machine and then fitted in the tote.

Measurements of the tote bag: Bottom: 12 x 24 cm, height: 28 cm.

Size guide: The measurements of the tote bag fits if you comply with the gauge, though it is easy to adjust the fabric lining, if you don’t succeed in keeping the gauge. Make sure to measure your knitted tote before cutting the fabric, to ensure that the parts fit together.

Gauge: 27 stitches x 34 rows (measured in the row with purl stitches) in slip stitch technique on needle 3,5 mm = 10 x 10 cm. Be aware to keep the same gauge when you knit in the round as when you knit back and forth, so you end up with a uniform look.

Suggested needles: Circular needle 3,0 mm and 3,5 mm (60 cm), double pointed needles 3,5 mm.

Suggested yarn: 100 g Sunday from Sandnes Garn (50 g = 235 m) with 50 g Silk Mohair, e.g Tynn Silk Mohair from Sandnes Garn.

Fabric lining: Approx. 60 cm fabric, for example 35 cm solid colored fabric and 25 cm patterned fabric for pockets and ribbon, approx. 50 cm stabilizer.

Oliva Totebag strikkes rundt på enten rundpind eller med strømpepinde i vævestrik. Først strikkes bundstykket frem og tilbage i mønster 1, hvorefter der samles masker op hele vejen rundt om bunden. Herfra strikkes der rundt i mønster 2. Ved toppen af tasken deles arbejdet i to dele, som strikkes færdige hver for sig i mønster 1 og afsluttes med en glatstrikket kant, der ombukkes og syes sammen til sidst. Denne kant fungerer som løbegang til en stofsnor til at trække tasken sammen. Foret med lommer syes først sammen på maskine og derefter monteres det i tasken.
