Ollantaytambo is the name of a village and an archaeological site in the Sacred Valley of Peru. The stitch used in this cowl reminded me of the terraces and the stairs of the ruins which I had the immense joy of visiting in April of 2015.

The first half of the cowl is worked in the round and the second half is worked flat. The result is a cowl that is very easy to wear and will protect your neck and upper chest from the cold, while not being too voluminous under your coat or jacket.

What you’ll need

• 2 skeins of Julie Asselin Leizu Worsted, or approximately 400 yards of worsted weight yarn
• US size 8 (5.0 mm), 24” circular needles
• Yarn needle
• Stitch marker

Finished size
Approximately 25 inches circumference and 14 1/2 inches long, after blocking

This pattern includes full gauge swatch instructions. You do not have to follow these instructions but your gauge will influence the final dimensions of your cowl and the yardage needed.

Level: advanced beginner - you might have to research techniques you do not know.

Ollantaytambo est le nom d’un village et d’un site archéologique de la Vallée Sacrée, au Pérou. La texture utilisée me rappelait les terrasses et les escaliers des ruines que j’ai eu le plaisir de visiter en avril 2015.

La première partie du patron est tricotée en rond et la seconde est tricotée à plat (en « aller-retour »). Le résultat est un col facile à porter et qui protégera votre cou du froid, tout en n’étant pas trop volumineux sous un manteau.

• Aiguilles circulaires de 24 po (60 cm), taille US 8 (5.0 mm)
• Aiguille à laine
• Marqueur(s) de mailles

Dimensions finales
Environ 25 po (63 cm) de circonférence et 14 1/2 po (37 cm) de haut, après blocage

Échantillon
Voir page 4 pour les instructions complètes. Il n’est pas obligatoire de faire votre échantillon mais votre tension influencera la taille finale du col et la quantité de laine utilisée.
