The “OLLIE” hat - oceans of fun!

This fun ocean themed hat is knit in the round in a simple textured wave stitch. A purple octopus perches on top. Bright fish are knit separately and sewn on.

THE BASICS

• Pattern includes 6 sizes: Newborn / 3-6 months / 6-12 months / Toddler / Child / Adult

• Pattern is written in ENGLISH and uses standard U.S. knitting terms

• Instructions are for knitting in the round on circular and double pointed needles

• Knitting skill level - INTERMEDIATE

• Gauge: 20 stitches = 4 inches (10 cm)

SKILLS YOU’LL NEED

• Knitting in the round

• Basic increases and decreases

• Knitting I-cord

SUPPLIES YOU’LL NEED

• Approx. 90 to 180 yds (82 to 165 m) DK or light-worsted weight yarn for hat

• Approx. 2 yds (m) DK or light-worsted weight yarn for EACH fish

• Approx. 20 to 30 yds (18 to 37 m) Sport weight yarn for octopus

• U.S. size 6 (4 mm) 12” (for 3 smallest sizes) or 16” circular needles or size needed to obtain gauge

• U.S. size 6 (4 mm) double pointed needles or size needed to obtain gauge

• U.S. size 3 (3.25 mm) double pointed needles

• Stitch markers

• Yarn needle

• Small amount of fiberfill stuffing (for octopus)
