Ollie the Owl
This pattern requires very frequent changing of yarn colors and more advanced amigurumi techniques and is therefore recommended for someone with amigurumi experience. There are 14 pages of detailed instructions with 31 photos to help you complete the owl. You will be using these techniques in this pattern:
-Crocheting in continuous round
-Forming a magic ring
-Handling of small crochet parts
-Frequent changing of yarn colors
-Intermediate sewing skills
-slip stitch (ss)
-chain stitch (ch)
-single crochet (sc)
-single crochet increase (sc inc)
-single crochet decrease (sc dec)
-half double crochet (hdc)
-single crochet 3 stitches together (sc3tog)
Using fingering yarn with 2.5mm hook will produce an owl of about 8.5cm/3.3in tall and 6.4cm/2.5in wide. You can use a thicker yarn to make a larger owl or use a thinner yarn to make a smaller owl.
You will need the following materials for this project (based on fingering yarn):
-Light Brown yarn
-Cream yarn
-Golden yellow yarn yarn
-10mm yellow safety eyes x 2 (use bigger eyes if using thicker yarn)
-Stuffing
- Felting needle + pink felting wool OR pink felt and glue
-Crochet Hook 2.5mm (or a hook size suitable for your yarn)
-Yarn needle
