Olympia Sea Lion Amigurumi
Olympia Sea Lion is inspired by the 2019 Youtube famous boat joyriding Sea Lions in Olympia, WA. I love how the two giant, chubby sea lions were having a grand time cruising through Eld Inlet on a 40 foot boat.
The Olympia Sea Lion Amigurumi pattern uses creative increasing and decreasing to create a curvy, pudgy, and detailed shape. Crochet your own herd of Sea Lions and go on boating adventures together!
Finished Size: Sea Lion nose to tail = 8.5”/ 22cm long, Front Flipper to Flipper 6”/ 15cm wide.
Yarn: Any Worsted Weight, but designed with Cascade 220 in colourways 7822 Van Dyke Brown, 2453 Pumpkin Spice, and 8686 Brown. 8012 Doeskin Heather and 8401 Silver Grey are other suggested colours that will match real-life Sea Lions.
Crochet Hook: 3.75mm / F6 or hook to achieve a tight gauge so no stuffing can be seen through the stitches. Yarn loft and stretch may influence your hook size.
Additional Materials: 8mm shank back black doll eyes and polyfill stuffing.
Crochet Skills: (US/Canada terms) Single crochet, half double crochet, chain, crochet in a round/spiral, invisible decrease, crochet increases and decreases, working front and back loops, following complex/unpredictable pattern changes, and sewing on parts.
This pattern was a part of the 2021 Puget Sound Local Yarn Store Tour as the official Crochet Pattern at Stranded by the Sea.
