This pattern is for a cushion featuring a sumptuously decorated royal elephant. Size may vary, according to what yarn you use, but the cushions I have made come out at between 14 to 16 inches square. The pattern is crying out to be beaded, but will look stunning left in plain knitting. The elephant’s tusks are knitted icord, sewn on after knitting and blocking the cushion.

My cushions have variously been knitted in;
1: Wensleydale Longwool Aran ( the red, black & grey cushion)
2: Drops Big Delight (the green & coral)
3: My own hand-spun yarn ( orange & dark brown)
4: Rico Design Creative Galaxy Chunky with sequins and some white DK held double.
Two 100g balls of Aran yarn in contrasting colours are required.

I have also used the chart to knit a small 4 ply drawstring bag with knitted lining!
