My Oma needed something to help keep her knees warm and do a decent job of staying in place, so I came up with this pattern. After making them and trying them out, I’ve realized that warm knees are wonderful and now wear my pair on chilly nights! This pattern offers the option to knit flat OR to knit in the round (for those that hate to seam). It is knit top down and can easily have more length added as needed.

Materials:

  • 10.00 mm needles OR, if knitting in the round 16” circular needles (or preferred needles to knit in the round and obtain gauge).
  • An additional needle for bind off (if working in the round)
  • Approximately 45 metres OR 37 metres of main colour and 8 metres of contrast colour per knee warmer in a size 6 bulky. This pattern is designed to use one ball of Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick (170g) to make both knee warmers. Length of main colour will vary if you decide to make them longer.
  • Stitch marker to mark the beginning of round (if knitting in the round).
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends and seaming together when knit flat.

Finished size:

23 cm long by 14 cm wide at the bottom and 17 cm at the top.

Although I love the one-skein version of these, they are amazing longer! The pattern tells you how to modify to do this.

Please enjoy my first pattern!
