Ombrélla Shawlette
Bordered with Parasol, or Umbrella Lace, and worked up in one and a half skeins (335 yards per skein) of Malabrigo’s Merino Wool Blend DK weight Arroyo yarn in the 043 “Plomo” colorway which is rich in undulating tones of light and dark purplish grays. Ombrélla seemed a good name for this shawlette design. It is a combination of the words “ombre” and “umbrella” and is a crescent shaped shawlette worked from the bottom up, beginning with the parasol lace border, and finishing with a short row mosaic textured body. The finished shawl is approximately 2 feet deep at its deepest middle point, and over 6 feet in length. The pattern includes full charts and written directions for both the lace border, and the short row body.
