Omey Shawl
About
The Omey Shawl is named after the Island of Omey, in County Galway, Ireland. This tidal island is filled with lots of little things to look at—craggy rocks, swirling ocean waves, archeological ruins, and a lovely coastal walking trail. Omey Island inspired the lace in this shawl. Which from far away looks intricate and complex but when you come closer you see that each part is simple and beautiful in its own right.
The placement of the lace in this shawl creates a subtle stripe through the eyelets and more solid areas, as well as a lovely scallop at the spine.
The Omey Shawl is filled with engaging lace that is easy to keep track of and has purl rest rows on the reverse, to allow you some time to just enjoy the knitting in your hands.
Written in two sizes—large and extra large—this shawl has so many possibilities for styling.
This pretty, lace triangle-shaped shawl—with both written and charted directions—is easy enough for a confident beginner knitter but engaging enough for an advanced one.
