On a Tangent is knit sideways in two colors. The main color garter stitch body grows in width to the center of the shawl and has short row stripes of the contrast color. The cable edging curves neatly around the main body, and finishes the shawl with a delicate fringe. The shaping allows it to sit easily and be worn in a variety of ways.

The sample shown used 330yds of color A (variegated brown) and 300yds of color B (green). The best choice of colors is a variegated or tonal for A and a tonal or solid for B, with a good contrast between the two to show off the short row stripes.
