On point neck warmer/collar
Tips: I learned the hard way that not everyone crochets the same! After I bought the same hook and yarn with a pattern, and struggled for mine to turn out like hers, I discovered why gauge is important. I tend to crochet loosely and my stitches seem to be a little taller. Gauge is not crucial in this type of project, but it is pictured on a small size model. It is a one-size-fits-most, but it will lay higher on the chest for some.
Gauge for worsted weight
5.50 mm-8 rows x 11 SC=4”
Length from collar to front point is approximately 10”.
Worsted weight, #4 yarn, approx 4 oz, Mill ends unlabeled worsted in red
(red heart super saver ombre in Cocoa, 10 oz, 283 g, 482 yd, 440 m, used approx 5 oz)
US I-9/5.50 mm
Stitches you need to know
FSC, foundation single crochet
HDC, half double crochet
Crochet in back and third Loop of a stitch. When you crochet into the back Loop, when the previous row was HDC, there will be a third Loop. Put your hook into the back Loop, tilt your work a little bit towards you and look on the backside and underneath your back Loop and you will see a smaller Loop right underneath. Do that loop as well so you are putting your hook through two loops. That gives a little bit more stability than just the back Loop.
DC3TOG/DC3 together= Begin DC without finishing, 3x, ending with four loops. Yarn over and pull through all four loops.
