The On We Go Hat is a top-down earflap hat knit with a single skein of super bulky yarn. The back of the hat is longer than the front to provide more neck coverage.

Sizes: Baby (Toddler, Child/Teen, Adult)

  • Baby: 5.5” / 14 cm crown to brim, 12.5” / 31.5 cm circumference at brim (unstretched)
  • Toddler: 6.5” / 16.5 cm, crown to brim, 14” / 35 cm circumference at brim (unstretched)
  • Child/Teen: 7.5” / 19 cm crown to brim, 15.5” / 39 cm circumference at brim (unstretched)
  • Adult: 8.5” / 21.5 cm crown to brim, 17”/ 43 cm circumference at brim (unstretched)

Please note: All hats can stretch to at least 1.5 x their circumference when stretched. Adults with smaller heads may prefer the Child/Teen size. Hat length can be easily adjusted by adding or subtracting rounds as noted.

Needles: US11 / 8mm 16” circular needles (longer is fine if you’re using magic loop)
If you prefer, you can start with US11 / 8mm DPNs, as this is a top-down hat and starts with very few stitches.

Notions: tapestry needle for weaving in ends, four stitch markers with one unique to mark the beginning of the round.

Yarn: Super bulky, 40 (50, 65, 80) yards / 37 (45, 60, 73) meters without pompom

Gauge: 2 x 2 rib (relaxed, unstretched): 4 inches / 10 cm = approximately 20 sts x 13 rows on US11/8mm needles. Gauge isn’t very important because there’s plenty of stretch.
